UPDATE: I have, for the moment, removed the A Day of Faces ebooks from sale. It’ll be back at some point, in a revised, expanded and better form. Join my mailing list if you want to know when that happens! Thanks. đ
You can now buy a collection of arc 1 of A Day of Faces! You can do this on Amazon, Kobo and Nook. It’s $2.99 at all of those places, so won’t break the bank.
“But wait!” I hear you cry, “isn’t A Day of Faces already available for free on Wattpad? Isn’t that the whole point of serialising the damn thing?”
Well, yes. And it’s still available to read, entirely for free, over on my Wattpad channel. That’s not going to change, and that’s still where new chapters will debut.
The ebook is about convenience and choice. Not everybody wants to sign up to Wattpad, download yet another app, wait a week for each chapter, etc etc. Sometimes you just want to read the fricking book. And thus: ebook.
I didn’t want it to just be the free Wattpad chapters stuffed into a book, though. There’s a ton of extra material included, too, a bit like cool DVD extras. Here’s what you get:
- Detailed chapter notes – revised and updated versions of the blog posts I’ve put up for each chapter. Again, convenience is a big part here – having to jump between Wattpad and this blog isn’t ideal and it’s easy to miss stuff. Having the notes all at the back of the ebook as appendices works really nicely.
- ‘How to write an online serial’ essay – a 4,800 word article all about publishing online in a serialised form. If you’re interested in writing serialised fiction online the ebook is worth getting just for this alone.
- Annotations throughout the main story text, giving more insight into the writing process. Think of it like an author’s equivalent of a director’s commentary.
- FUN LORE STUFF: character profiles, location notes and genotypes encountered to date. These are taken straight from my own files and are a lot of fun. Fun.
I’m really excited about the ebook version. It provides an alternative way to get into the series and I can’t wait to see what people think.
In related news, I’ve also set up a mailing list-of-sorts for A Day of Faces. You can sign up to it over here, which means you won’t miss any cool ADoF-related gubbins in the future.
